Rationing

For those who lived through the Second World War, rationing is nothing new. It became part of their daily lives and continued long after the war finished. But how many of us realise that rationing is still continuing. Although we have all the material things we could possibly want, providing we can afford to buy them, our spirituality is rationed to a couple of days a year.

Every year at this time we remember those who have given their lives in past conflicts. In the past few years these ceremonies have become even more poignant as we also commemorate the lives of our young men and women who have given their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In another six weeks we shall celebrate Christmas. This is also a time when we think of those who are no longer with us and when send out thoughts of love, peace and goodwill.

Why do we ration our thoughts of peace and goodwill to a few days a year? Since the second would war the longest period that British troops have not been involved in conflict is six months. The world is not at peace, the Second World War did not end war it just restricted war to more localised conflicts. The UN was meant to provide a means to replace war with diplomacy but vested interests invariable ensure that it remains just a talking shop.

So what has this to do with spiritualism? Spiritualism teaches us that to evolve we have to take part in life and it also teaches us the power of our thoughts.

Every time we think negative thoughts we are adding to the black clouds of hate and despair that engulf our world. When we think positive thoughts we add to the positive vibrations of our world. You do not need to be a politician to help change the world. You just need to care enough to change the way you think.
