I was recently teaching at a meditation evening. One of the eight members of the group saw an angel and was asked what colour it was wearing! Blue, she said, it must be Michael! Michael in blue? Oh! Yes, a recent course with a big name celebrity says Michael wears blue!!!
Blue for many is represented by water but there has been much controversy over the years and many ancient paintings and old texts examined. Michael is depicted wearing armour and weilding a sword, seen often in powerful red but rarely blue clothing. To many tarot experts, he is not a sword but an wand energy!
Raphael, the healer, is often by tarot experts said to be a sword energy rather than a wand. However, Gabriel - present at the conception of Jesus - is often depicted carrying a long stemmed flower, perhaps could be a wand some would think. How do we deal with this confusion of archangelic energies and does it matter?
I think consistency is important, so whatever correspondence you use, stick to it and don't change.
I was recently contacted by someone who told me Michael is definitely a 'fire' angel because the St Michael's Line is so named because it runs in a straight line through many St Michael's churches and it points to the sunrise on May 1st, the Celtic Beltain Fire Festival.
